Numbers that don’t quite make sense

Numbers that don’t quite make sense in today’s The Sun:

PERMATANG PAUH BY-ELECTION:EC reports 65.25% turnout

BUKIT MERTAJAM (Aug 26 , 2008) : A total of 38,144 voters cast their ballots in the Permatang Pauh by-election today, accounting for 65.25% of the 58,459 registered voters in the constituency at the close of polling centres at 5pm.

———————-
PKR – 31195
BN – 15524
AKIM – 92
Total – 46811

Voting was brisk ……….. But the overall turnout (62.25%) was much lower than the GE when 82.06% voted.

Also stated in The Sun:

Election Commission secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor announced that 38144 of the 58459 registered voteres cast their ballots.

———————-
Now, it can’t be 62.25%, because
62.25% = 36391 people

And if it is indeed as what the EC claims, then:

38144 out of 58459 = 65.24%

46811 is more like 80.07%. But this is not including the spoilt votes.

Where the heck did all the other people come from??!!!

So….it got me thinking….. here’s what I think really happened:

ACTUAL count: (assuming undi rosak = 0)

PKR – 31195
BN – 6857
AKIM – 92
Total – 38144

Phantom voters – 8667.

EC guy forgot to count phantom voters…. and only after that he realised the discrepancies and announced another ‘official’ result. Ahaks!

Now… back to the celebrations!…. REFORMASI!!!!

The numbers reported officially did seem rather suspicious, didn’t it? Good analysis Perv……

Those scumbags!!!! Bet they didn’t forsee that despite all their attempts to cheat, the voters giving their support to DSAI were too many to overcome……

Only The Sun I guess, The Star reported the numbers right. LOL! Yes last night I watched the news, they reported it wrongly also, quoting Bernama. 60+% instead of 80+%. HAHA! They cannot count lah!!

Bernama is famous for reporting nonsense with impunity. Anything it says is to be doubted for its trademark unreliability.

    good to do re-count today.
you have 14 days to protest.
the vote ballots can be kept for 10 years.
before we die, ask them to re-count today.
    why not.
    link to complain is at

7.43pm: The EC starts to announce official results as per the ballot boxes it has counted. As it stands, Anwar is leading by 3,507 votes.

The breakdown is as follows: Akim’s Hanafi Hamat (9 votes), Anwar (5,398 votes) and Arif Shah (1,891).

So far 20 ballot boxes of a total of 111 have been opened and counted. Anwar had won in ALL these 20 boxes. In one particular box, he had obtained 441 votes compared to Arif’s 14.

The EC said that 38,144 ballots were cast today, out of 58,459 eligible voters.

9.50pm: Official EC tally – Anwar got 31,195 votes, Arif Shah, 15,524, Hanafi, 92. Anwar won with a majority of 15,671.

Anwar’s wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, won the seat with a 13,388 majority at the March 8 general elections.

The official voter turnout was 81.1 percent, or 47,410 out of 58,459 registered voters – which was much higher than what the EC had stated earlier. There were 599 spoilt votes.

Dude, your news.. bit outdated😛 But then again you probably right haha! After ‘cooked’ the data, they announced the ‘right’ one. But The Sun never update.

Will this information be published in the Newspaper? Everybody including the BN Grass root members need to know what is happening.

    Guys,
For all I care, I will still have a grand celebration even if DSAI were to win by 1 (yes, one!) majority vote. Down with corruption, down with the abuse power, and down with the injustices. Oh BTW, I am from Permatang Pauh too.
