Spare The Rod And Spoil The Child………
Posted by ErnieJean on September 5, 2008
When I was, around 8-9 years old (the bratty years, I suppose), I remember this one incident where I was really rude to an adult friend of my father’s. Can’t really recall what triggered it, but, boy, did my father make sure that “rudeness” will never be part of my vocabulary ever again. Though the lesson learnt came with very sore buttocks, as an adult, I can truly understand the rationale behind the “hard love” my parents believed in. And this is precisely how I intent on bringing up my own kids, to ensure that they grow up as respectful and responsible adults, who would be contributing positively to the society that they will be living in. After all, it’s not a pleasant position to be in, if someone asks your child, “Your mother never teach you manners ar?”
Back to the present day, the same obviously cannot be said about the politicians of a particular racially-biased politicial party (there……the one that almost lost their underwear in the recent Permatang Pauh by-election?).
Oh, what the heck, I’ll just name this particular person as the most recent example and addition to the growing numbers of “very very very badly brought up” members of society…..who else but the one and only Penang UMNO Warlord, Ahmad Ismail (surprise…surprise?) !!!!!!!

Ahmad: Why should I apologise?
By ANDREA FILMER
GEORGE TOWN: Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail has refused to apologise over his racist remark calling the Chinese community “immigrants who do not deserve equal rights”.
“Why should I apologise? I didn’t do anything wrong. Those who do wrong should apologise but I haven’t done anything,” Ahmad said when The Star met him outside his Bayan Baru office yesterday.
He, however, refused to comment on whether the press misquoted him.
Police are currently investigating five reports lodged against Ahmad under the Sedition Act 1948 for uttering the remarks at a ceramah on the eve of the Permatang Pauh by-election.
“Ah-Boy, your Mother never teach you manners ar?”
And despite the “slap-in-yer-face”, how did the PM respond?
“He has said that it was not his intention to offend the Chinese community but he has already uttered such remarks.
“There is a saying that terlajak kata tak boleh undur (once you’ve said something wrongly, you cannot take it back). That’s the problem,” he said. (Wah Lau Eh!!!!! Still making excuses leh!!!)
But how did UMNO, the main component in the ruling coalition, end up with so many imbeciles spouting racist statements openly and, as if, without a care in the world, especially these past few years? Besides the fact that the leadership themselves are “leading by example”, have you seen 3-year olds in a classroom with the teacher sleeping on the job?
At the end of the day, someone’s gotta take up the nasty responsibility of wielding the rotan……and in this case, if the appointed head of this government refuses to maintain control over those under his command, then it’s up to us employers aka Taxpayers to do what’s necessary.
How many more “Ahmad Ismail”s, “Kerismudin”s, powerful Son-In-Laws, “Najib”s, etc are we willing to tolerate and to try and make excuses for, before realising that nobody, absolutely nobody, has the right to demean and bully the others, who have helped to develop this nation to its current status (of course, thanks to one particular buffoon, we’re well way back to square one.)
