SAPP’s Yong Teck Lee – Hero or Opportunist?

Posted by Madame on September 18, 2008

They finally did it! After all these months of political posturing….😉

This seemed to be the million dollar question in Sabah…Would Yong have the courage to quit the BN coalition OR was he still waiting to be kicked out from BN, so that he could pull the ‘wronged hero’ act for the Sabahans? Now, we have our answer…..he had the courage to quit a coalition that has failed the Sabahans time and again! A coalition that has made corruption its main policy while Sabah continues to get more impoverished day by day!

For some of us, Yong might appear as an Opportunist and this is quite understandable. He, after all is an ex Sabah CM. Why didn’t he try to institute some of the ‘reforms’ that he now talks about whilst he was in power? The answer to this would be….He was still part of BN and so his hands were effectively tied. Another more compelling reason would be, that there were no other viable alternatives to government at that time😀 Yong is currently being demonized for having the courage to stand up and say Enough is Enough!!! Lots of questions abound at this time….Why wait until the BN government looks like its on its last legs before quitting the coalition? Was he hedging his bets? Was he waiting to see if PR had the credibility to form the new government? YES! He probably was!

So does this make Yong an Opportunist? Yes, it does…BUT is being an Opportunist such a bad thing? After all, Politics breeds no saints!😉 He is looking out for the interests of the Sabahans….and yep, to a degree, he’s looking out for his own as well😉

For me, I’d rather go with the Opportunist who does have the interest of his people at heart…than with one who has none at all!

As to being a Hero…..well, only time will tell🙂

I am no fan of Yong Teck Lee but the devil must be given his due. At least he has the ‘scrotal gumption’ to quote Zorro to stand by his principles. Whether politicians as a whole have principles is another issue.

The fact is YTL is fed up with the Barisan Neraka. As a Sabahan he feels that the state has been neglected far too long. It has become the poorest state in Malaysia. It doesn’t receive enough Federal grants for development commensurate to the revenue that is taken out of the state.

Kudos to YTL for his brave stand.

What about the so-called chieftans of the Kadazan, Dusun and the Murut? All these leaders of their clans have very short memories. They have forgotten that

    1. it was THE BN UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF MAMAKTHIR THAT PLAYED DIRTY POLITICS AND TOOK OVER THE STATE PBS GOVERNMENT.

    2. They have forgotten that it was BN THAT FORMED A UMNO-LED GOVERNMENT REPLACING PBS AND UTTERLY DESTROYED KADZAN-DUSUN-MURUT UNITY.

    3. IT WAS BN THAT BROUGHT IN INDONESIANS AND PHILIPINOS UNDER THE MAHATHIR PLAN WHICH GAVE CITIZENSHIP TO OUTSIDERS WHO HAVE OUTNUMBERED THE LOCALS.

    4. THIS MAHATHIR PLAN HAS ENSURED THE SUCCESS OF UMNO AND BN IN ALL THE ELECTIONS AFTER THE FALL OF PBS.

Now is the time that the PBS, UPKO and other parties in Sabah should grab and show UMNO that they have had enough of racial and religious politics in Sabah.

Now is the time toleave UMNO dominated BN. Be part of the FORCE that is about to bring about a drastic CHANGE.

Be true leaders of the Kadazan-Dusun-Murut people and show you are capable to steer Sabah to a better socio-economic future.

The lowest scum is Maximus Ongkili, being the one jumped ship leading his PBS party into BN and yet that day he called PR or is it Anwar a political whore. This is the Judas of Sabahan people, a shameless one at that. Why some Sabahan leaders so like that? eg. Bung Mokhtar. Sorry Sabahans, but please choose better leaders next time. Sarawakians too. Most leaders from Sabah and Sarawak are nothing but glorified plunderers.

    Aha Oho,

Can a politician ever be trusted….really?

I would say that YTL can definitely be trusted more than Musa Aman or Joseph Pairin.

    Aha Oho,

Perhaps you can enlighten us a bit on the part ‘cannot be trusted’ rather than spouting one liner with no explanations, facts or what shits. Share some trivia please.
