CPO: Dispersal not during national anthem

Andrew Ong | Nov 10, 08 9:54am

Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar has denied that the police moved in on participants at a candle-light vigil last night while they were singing the national anthem.

That is what they (participants) are claiming,” Khalid told reporters at the Petaling Jaya police district headquarters about midnight.

When told that there was a video recording of the police action, Khalid replied: “I am denying it.”

He had been asked to comment on the arrest of 23 individuals, including a Malaysiakini videographer Syukri Mohamad and a Catholic priest, in front of the Petaling Jaya civic centre.

All, except one, were released at 7am today on police bail. They are required to report to the PJ district police station on Nov 24.

The vigil was nearing the end but riot police broke up the gathering while some 300 people were singing the national anthem with the intention of dispersing immediately after.

Following this, crowd members, including many senior citizens and women, were chased from the venue. Some of them suffered injuries while running away.

Asked why Syukri had detained when he was on duty, Khalid said “He was part of the illegal organisation.”

Khalid explained that a group wearing ‘Bersih’ and ‘RPK’ t-shirts had allegedly gathered illegally opposite the Amcorp Mall shopping centre.

“After repeated warnings by the police, the group was still degil (stubborn) and walked to a different area until 9.45pm when they gathered in front of MBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council).

They were asked to disperse and the police arrested a few people. Among them was (Selangor exco member) Ronnie Liu (right) and two state elected reps,” he said.

The two state reps were Petaling Jaya MP Tony Pua and Kampung Tunku state assemblyperson Lau Weng San.

Khalid confirmed that Liu was arrested at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters where he had gone to assist the detainees.

Fifth consecutive vigil

According to Khalid, a group had been gathering at the field opposite Amcorp Mall for four consecutive weeks and have not heeded police demands to apply for a permit.

“We have given them enough warnings,” he said.

Asked if the group had posed a danger to the public, Khalid replied “That doesn’t matter. The law says that a permit must be obtained.”

Asked if this amounted to double standards, since no action had been taken against pro-government groups such as those protesting against the appointment of a non-Malay to head PKNS (Selangor government investment arm).

Khalid denied this, and reiterated that the group had failed to heed demands to obtain a police permit for four weeks.

Previous candle-light vigils had been held by small groups of activists, many of whom were individuals who had attended Sunday mass. These were symbolic protests against the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Watch this video and you will see why I am calling the CPO a LIAR!

Thanks for the link Ella Mae ;D

Well, this just proves that the CPO along with the rest of the BN govn still think Malaysians live in the Stone Age where no camera handphones exist……

And with the silent approval from our leaders, these people will continue to lie thru their teeth, even when proven to be liars.

  3. I agree with Erniejane, these people think we so ulu as to just believe whatever they tell us? Gee, haven’t they heard of technology? I’ll bet you they come up with a stupid statement like that video was probably fake and created by Steven Spielberg and his team at ILM or something!

Oh and that Catholic priest is from the congregation I go to😀 Way to go Father😀

hahaha! erniejean, they lived in stone-age era. that is why they don’t know anything. they expect you to believed everything they said. Because they think you must believe…

But sadly, ever since Majority of Malaysian had taken the 308 pills, we became much smarter!

This CPO is from the same no brain lackey-mould as the UMNO goons running the government. They lie through their teeth and expect the rakyat to be as dense and moronic like them.

Perhaps they believe that praying 5 times a day and going to Mecca to fullfil their religious obligations will absolve all their accumulated sins. Don’t bet on it.

This sort of behaviour pattern is very apparent in those suffering from self-induced denial syndrome that has become so virulent that it has turned into terminal stage cancer. Their only escape from it is a miserable death.

The CPO can spin his yarn anyway he likes but the truth is out there for all to see. The MSM may come to his assistance but then who believes in the MSM these days.

The raja polis di Malaysia is already a farce. Don’t make it any worse!

The CPO is a F-liar. I was there and I saw everything, I even ran from the FRUs (I treasured my balls..), the police acted without warning, and showing disrespect to the national anthem. People already agreed to disperse after singing Negaraku, but the FRUs charged at the crowd anyway. I saw a elderly woman, fall on her knees while climbing over the fence.😦 Damn you, Datuk Khalid. It was nice talking to you, especially on the definition of ‘stadium’. What an idiot.

Barbie, thank goodness they didn’t rip your shirt off, like they did Tony Pua (or the policewomen will be fainting all over the place….heheheh)

From what I’ve read all over the internet on 1st hand accounts, it is pretty obvious the police and FRU are iching to start a fight, regardless of whether they were provoked or not……it’s that typical “UMNO-Macho-Keris-Weilding” syndrome, which is to beat up defenceless folks to pump up self adrenalin.

These police goons are getting away with their brutish, uncouth and barbaric behaviour because we Malaysians are truly law abiding citizens.

If our very macho bunch of blueboys were to face the mobs that come out in the other Asean countries to claim their rights as citizens, these macho goons would be worse than their canine counterparts that run away with their tails in between their legs when face with physical danger. They might even wet their pants in their hurry to get away.

The FRU and the balaclava clad louts show their valour like the mujahideens elsewhere when they are incognito. They won’t dare show their faces for fear of being set upon when they are in their civilian garbs.

Moronic bouncers paid with the taxpayers money to harass and brutalize the citizens!

CPO Datuk Kalid did warn us infront of AMcorp to disperse, so I told the group to go into Amcorp and wait. I walked to A&W and reapeated the same to others who happened to be here. I waited near Shah motel for RPK to turn up. When he did, the people were already leaving the mall and headed towards him. All of us then proceeded across the busy road (with the help of the mesra cops who stopped the traffic so we didnt have to climb the steps to go across) We walked towards the CIVIC building and gathered in the gardens beside it. RPK then addressed the crowd here.

The FRU, Special Branch bullying Special Light Force and other samsengs of the ilk stood nearby watching as we sang Negara Ku, then they pounched on us BEFORE the anthem finished AND WITHOUT WARNING, descended upon us using UNNECESSARY brute force.

There are 3 types of people who would appose these gatherings… the dumb, the uninformed and lastly the CORRUPTED who HAVE benefitted from the policies of this corrupt govt. Henceforth, the rakyat should take note on those who speak out and act against ordinary folks like us. These are the evil ones who must have greatly benefitted from BN govt.

I strongly feel this govt have even shortchanged the police force cos when I was in there, I could see the cops operating from rooms that should be regarded as death traps cos wires were everywhere, cramped and dirty with paint work peeling off the ceilings, etc. I feel it is not right to ask them to put their lives on the line when they are so badly paid. It is commonly known fact they resort to asking and accepting bribes.

I hold the force from the Special Branch police and Datuk CPO Kalid responsible for the inhumane, brutish samseng and unjustified way in which they enforced the law upon peace-loving ordinary people. Since they are not stupid and think we have nothing else better to do than to enjoy getting threats and bodily injury for the fun of it, they should carry out their duties in a HUMANE and DECENT manner.

Oh Angela, I saw you🙂 *wink wink!* You were the one saying, “1st thing I will do if we change the government, I will ask the government to increase your (the police) salary”, right? I was walking right behind you, when I heard Marina said ‘This is Angela’ and the other guy added ‘This is THE Angela’. Too bad, didn’t get to say hi to you.

Angela, I am sorry to say this but you put the safety of your fellow vigilers at stake when you did not inform ALL that a warning had been issued by Khalid. I was there at 9.00pm and was not aware of any warning until I left. I did not go to the PJ civic centre as I thought the rally was over.Furthermore you should have made this statement earlier, so that some of us need not call Khalid a liar. Such info. should not be confined to a few leaders or organisers.
