I received an email that calls out for everyone to wear black to express our dissatisfaction concerning the constitutional issue in Perak. Us Dandies propose, do wear black if you believe that the ruckus in Perak’s downright malicious and a nuisance (and I don’t mean one-sided, I mean on both sides of the issue). I certainly do. =)
Oh, we might prowl around with a camera capturing people wearing black, or not. How about everyone publishes pics of themselves (faces conveniently photoshopped out of course) wearing black together?
KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 — The Coalition for Free and Fair Elections, Bersih, today called on Malaysians to protest the power grab in Perak and put on a show of civil disobedience by wearing black on May 7 in conjunction with the sitting of the state assembly.
In a press conference today, Bersih accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak of orchestrating the political coup in Perak and lambasted him for allegedly failing to keep his promise made under his 1Malaysia philosophy which puts people first, saying that putting people first would mean giving the voters of Perak the chance to determine the state government.
Taking a leaf from other civil obedience movements such as those organised by Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and even Umno’s “berkabung” movement to oppose the Malayan Union, Wong Chin Huat, a spokesman for Bersih, urged Malaysians who oppose the power grab to “let everyone see a sea of black walking into an office, market, mosque, temple, church, college, park, bus… let us be united in one black colour to show the world that the 1Malaysia under Najib Razak is 1BlackMalaysia living in darkness.”
Bersih also criticised the BN for practising “old politics” and trying to clamp down on media coverage and peaceful gatherings.
The Perak government had initially allowed only selected media to cover the assembly sitting. However, the decision was later reversed by Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Zambry Abdul Kadir.
The police have also warned political parties against organising mass gatherings in front of the state secretariat.
Teo Nie Ching, DAP’s federal legislator from Serdang, says that she was queried by the Police Special Branch after she tried to organise a bus to ferry supporters to Ipoh and expressed her disappointment with the Special Branch.
“Why stop us from going to witness the assembly?” she told reporters.
Lim Teck Ghee, who represented the Centre for Policy Initiatives, urged solidarity despite “a propaganda war” to tar dissenting views as unpatriotic and treasonous.
“It is the duty of Malaysians to oppose illegal and unconstitutional acts of power grabbing,” he declared. “We are the patriotic ones.”
Lim was referring to accusations from BN that Nizar was committing treason by going against the Sultan of Perak’s wishes that he resign as mentri besar.
The political crisis in Perak was triggered by the defection of four state representatives from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) to BN earlier this year, giving BN an edge in numbers over PR in the state assembly.
The Perak state assembly speaker however, claimed that three of the representatives who defected had resigned but this was disputed by the latter, who got the backing of the Election Commission.
Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin, who maintains he is the rightful mentri besar, then sought permission from the Sultan of Perak to dissolve the state assembly to pave the way for a state election but his request was rejected and he was told to resign instead.
Nizar refused to resign but at the same time, Zambry was sworn in as the new mentri besar by the Sultan on February 6.
Since then, PR and BN have been locked in a struggle over who is the legitimate government of Perak and whether or not to dissolve the state assembly.

Whilst Mahathir has his Bersih, Cekap dan Amanah concept, Pak Lah with his Work With Me, Not For Me; Najib has since conceptualised his 1 Malaysia model- a yet to be fully-explained slogan backing his governmental administration.
In his website – aptly called www.1malaysia.com.my – Najib indicates that there will be 8 Values of the 1 Malaysia. So far, he has unveiled 4 of the values: – Culture of Excellence, Perseverance, Humility and Acceptance. And thus far, he has riddled us with more convoluting and meandering explanations that are, quite frankly, unfathomable.
First of all – let us understand – the 1 Malaysia is a concept. It is simply a slogan. To put it even more plainly, it is a motto – a meaningless axiomatic dictum of words that carries no weight of law.
Secondly – and as many would want to believe – it is not about One Malaysian, where all Malaysians stands as one in equality. A concept of equality of such a nature would go against the spirit of the Federal Constitution – namely Article 153 – which safeguards the special position of the Malays and natives of Sabah and Sarawak. It would also go against the New Economic Policy.
Hence, if the 1 Malaysia is not about equality of races, then what is it about?
Professor Datuk Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin, from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Institute of Ethnic Studies, drew an uneasy distinction with the concept of “Malaysian Malaysia”, promulgated by the PAP of Singapore, and later the DAP.
The Malaysian Malaysia – he says – is an ideology that espouses all ethnic group having equal rights with none having special rights. The 1 Malaysia, Prof Shamsul explains – rhetorically in florid scholastic terms – as a national unity process not in the manner of “unity in uniformity” but “unity in diversity“. This in plain simple English means something out of nothing.
Najib himself, so far with his 4 Values, does not breach on the subject of equality. He talks firstly on a Culture of Excellence- it is basically the abstract issue of work and performance. In Part 2, he talks on Perseverance- in which he preaches some sort of self-help maxims on how life is never easy. In Part 3, he pleads on the trait of Humility.
It is finally, in Part 4 which he threads on issues of more substance: – Acceptance. It is here that Najib tries to surreptitiously and perhaps covertly take on the topic of equality, by pointing out the difference between “tolerance” and “acceptance”. On the former, he explains that “… when you say you tolerate, you don’t quite like it, but you accept it because you have no choice.” This is as opposed to “acceptance”, where he argues “… if you talk in terms of acceptance, it indicates a state of mind that you are embracing something positively.”
So Najib is asking us to accept not to tolerate all the farcical nonsense, but to embrace it with a smile?
It is really all too philosophical for me to swallow. What exactly are all these Values? These are all not politics. It is some sort of Swami Beyondananda mantras – “excellence”, “perseverance”, humility” and “acceptance”. Pick up any cheap self-help book from MPH and you can find the same crap. In fact, why not just get a free copy from the Buddhist temple.
I wait, with abated breath, on the next 4 Values.

Rais Yatim, the expert somersaulter is making the headlines again. We can never get enough stale, puke inducing statements from Umno ministers, even from the so called the ‘educated’ bunch. This bugger has a Phd I tell you, and his doctorate paper was titled – “Freedom under Executive Power in Malaysia: A Study of Executive Supremacy” which he dedicated to “all who have suffered from the tyranny of executive excesses.”
It mind boggling (actually, not really.. lah! just being polite here) that a person with such background and credentials would turn into a poppycock offering ridiculous opinions like “losing Pedre Brance aka Pulau Batu Putih to Singapore is a win-win situation”. Well, we can’t expect much from an intellectual whore, right? Oopss.. by calling Rais an intellectual whore, am I breaking any law here? *chuckles*
(Bernama) – The government is not looking to find fault with bloggers and other internet users but would like them to follow the law to ensure they did not misuse it.
Oh sure man! As long as we write like any of your MSM dogs, everything will be peachy. How about telling them to follow the law as well? Cannot lah double standards, and why singled out ‘bloggers and internet users?’
Minister of Information, Communication and Culture Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said the ministry played an important role in establishing only the right kind of information reached the masses.
Rais Yatim….OOPS!!….I mean “Living Dinosaur”….. 😛
“It is not that we are looking for faults all the time. But we would like the right of the people to be guarded by the relevant authorities and the law. “Our aim is to see the 1Malaysia concept succeed.
However, in order to succeed, the facts must not be twisted or misinterpreted by some until it raises racial sentiments.
Twisted or misinterpreted, u say??? How about misquoted? You think people are dumb like you? My foot twisted and misinterpreted. I bet people misintepreted you when you said “Bok House is not a heritage building“, when you actually wanted to say it is??? What?? Come on lah, we are not so smart like you to decipher what are you trying to say, stop confusing stupid people like us.
“If the right information does not reach the people how can there be success?
Hey Mr. Living-Dinosaur-Minister, please elaborate what is the RIGHT information?
What is NOT raising racial sentiments!!???
Mengapa masa kini perpaduan kaum dilihat kian longgar.
Jika kita kembali merenung lima tahun lalu, suasana perpaduan kaum kita dicemburui oleh negara-negara lain.
Tetapi kenapa sejak pilihan raya umum 2008, suasana tiba-tiba berubah.
Ambillah iktibar kekecohan politik negara Thai.
Translation? I am not going to waste my time translating this shit.
Basically, this hired mouthpiece of UMNO, party of our Prime Minister, who incidentally coined up the “1Malaysia” slogan, is telling us this :-
*Princes of Earth -ledge your souls to UMNO, to ensure peace and prosperity, ehem… of course prosperity is subjected to certain individuals only.
*Others – SHADDUP!! and obey. Wag your tail. Eat shit or whatever. Just RESPECT the princes becuse we’ve tolerated you for far too long.
*Progress and stability of the nation – exclusively for BN, one and only.
And because we’ve yet to hear even a whimper from our glorious PM and his bunch of yo-yos on this piece of crap, it’s a silent endorsement of sorts, on their intepretation of what Najib’s “1Malaysia” is all about, isn’t it?
Now aren’t we just about the luckiest bunch on this side of Mother Earth to have a great “People First” cabinet working for our well-being? Ah, we are so blessed! One thing I must give it up to BN, it is good at sloganeering. Damn freaking good! Not going to post it here, save you from puking. What? When Samyvellu came up with the ‘Rejuvenation’ campaign for MIC with him at the lead, you can tell these slogans are pretty much, rubbish!
So folks, STOP DREAMING AND GO BACK TO WORK!!! THE GAHMEN NEEDS OUR MONEY!!!!!

I had such a GREAT couple of days vacation getaway with the family recently, totally secluded from all the monkeying antics of nation’s political leaders. There were no newspapers, internet facilities that were too extorbitant to be bothered with and a vacation crowd that was not interested in discussing Malaysian political crap. Totally refreshing, but I guess, one has to come back to Mother Earth sooner or later.
Natural, it was almost a “rude wake-up call from the escapade dreams at Neverland” to open up today’s papers and see that nothing has changed much…..someone is still seriously hell-bent on claiming his stake at the throne (by killing off those who may not be his political alliance in th future), idiotic ass-kissing politicians making nonsensical statements and of course the theatrical antics that comes with it all.
Seriously…….when are we ever going to see changes for the better…FOR ONCE!!!!????
The UMNO disciplinary board mentioned something about Malaysians being generally cynical over their every action…..well, A-BUH-DEN!!!??? I know we’re the country of coincidences, but where got so many coincidences wan!!! You tell me lah!!!
So it seems, Ali Rustam and the famous (but not for long) SIL are the first victims of the “UMNO Spring Cleaning” exercise. While I’m glad the racist Malaccan bigot is getting what’s due, honestly, it doesn’t matter who goes first because do you seriously think there’s one, just one, honest-to-goodness UMNO politician in the entire pack? Especially the ones who are contesting for positions this coming UMNO assembly?
As for idiotic “throwing stones in the glasshouse that one lives in” statements, this latest one by a politician from an almost completely wiped out political partner of BN takes the cake;
(The Star) – Gerakan vice-president Huan Cheng Guan has called on Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to resign if there is evidence that members of the DAP-led state government are involved in corruption.
‘‘Practise what you preach. Lim has been going around saying his government is the cleanest ever but now there is an allegation of wrongdoing in his government,” Huan said.
He said that as a matter of principle, Lim should be responsible for the actions of his subordinates.
You know what? I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU Mr. Huan…….so how about issuing that statement to all political leaders besides the ones who kicked you guys out of your political home?
Come On!!!! Be a MAN!!!! Say it to the face of the big boss UMNO taikor about being responsible for his subordinates who threatened Malaysians with keris and bad breath, scaring little children with bad plastic surgeries, throwing diva tantrums, harrassing harmless wheelchair bound old men, embarrassing the nation, siphoning the nation’s wealth to some other foreign land, messing up the country’s education system and a whole lot of incredibly unthinkeable wrongdoings.
And then, say the same thing to the big bosses of your fellow ass-kissing BN political partners about stealing plots of land from the people, building illegal political centres, selling out the ones that they were supposed to protect for power and wealth……….
Yes, it’s nice to know things still remain status quo as far as our political landscape is concerned………while our economy slips a few notches down south……….

I have been wondering why Barisan Nasional was behaving themselves. Maybe I was deluded into thinking, well, considering the grim global economic forecasts this year, they’re perhaps trying to save as many middle class in the country as possible. Think of something other than the rubbish economic stimulus packages that doesn’t seem to work long-term. After all, people who pay taxes are those in the middle-lower class catagory, and the super rich usually gets aways without paying much. Except I forgot one thing, the reason BN’s political hold onto the country’s wavering is due to the fact that the middle class can afford internet access, is more or less well educated, and makes decisions on their own, rather than what is fed through the mass media. They don’t want that. No. So they decided to plan an ambush.
They were planning to topple the hold that the Pakatan Rakyat has in the 5 states one by one, using proven effective techniques. The first technique we have seen is bribery, where there are those 4 from Perak who fell to the ploy. There is an alleged claim that the former DAP MP’s actually incurred numerous debts, and the woman chose her husband over her own other loyalties, or so the whispers in the wind say. Second technique is the digging out dirt on the head or those who hold the parties together, as poor Elizabeth Wong has sufffered and Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is finding out. The third is by psychological pressure, by giving death threats, putting the MPs in fear of harm to their families, which unfortunately knowing as how things are evolving in this country, might be carried out.
What all of us must understand is that the next Prime Minister of Malaysia (a dictator who would rival Mahathir’s iron grip, with less tact, less consideration for the economy, and a womanizer to boot) is one ruthless sneaky fellow, and he’ll do anything to keep his imagined god-given right to rule and leech off the land. These people don’t care about us common folks who work 10 hour days and want only to be good at what their chosen profession does. No matter what, free access to the nation’s coffers would ensure that the powers that be in BN UMNO always be more than comfortable. They’re already wealthy, and the only way to keep things that way is to maintain hold on power in the country and be Deities (in their minds) above the law. No one is safe from being their pawns. Whatever it takes, it will be done.
Pakatan Rakyat as it is right now exists on a fragile balance. Everyone has ideals, everyone wants justice and equality, everyone has their own motives and reasons. Everyone is human. Make no mistake, Najib’s plan is to prey on PR MPs’ weaknesses, expose/threaten/pay them off then play dumb and innocent officially. PAS, for all their excessive enthusiasm for religion, does not lack of loyalty and solidarity amongst themselves, it is after all the Muslim way. Cannot the DAP and PKR do the same? We are facing a common enemy, it is now time to strategize and effective counter-attack. One has to be smart, and trust one another. They cannot break a bound bundle of sticks, but it’s easy to break them one by one untill all has fallen.
Pakatan Rakyat, worry, strategize, and prepare yourselves. This 4-year-term you have earned will be unchartered territory as far as Malaysian political scene is concerned. Everything is possible, even assasinations. Remember, the people have supported you, so kindly do you end of the bargain.

Know why Malaysia is still in the humdrum?
Why husbands of some people I know who had to go overseas, leaving the family behind to earn a living because nothing seems to be moving here?
Why there’s another 80,000 folks (and not 40,000 as conservatively estimated by the government) who got retrenched?
This despite the first stimulus package being “supposedly” already released into the economy…………..
Because, despite most of us knowing very well what’s really wrong, especially with the administrators of this country, we seem to be stuck with nowhere to go……Still stuck with the same set of money-devils playing with the nation’s coffers and legal framework who are hell-bent at staying in power by using whatever dirty means.
While leaders of developed nations (now we also know why some nations are called “developed nations” and we’re still “developing” in a never-ending cycle) focus their attention and energy on solving their country’s economy woes, ours are engrossed in playing “masak-masak”…….where the main ingredients are :-
1. 500 gms of RACISM
2. 450gm of LONGKANG-POLITICS
3. 10 tbs of CORRUPTION
4. 1 roll of HYPOCRITISM
Tun Dr. Mahathir had more or less confirmed that the racial politics, played to perfection by UMNO and their “running dogs”, are more for political power concerns rather than actual concerns for the race they profess to be conning “protecting”.
“Whether we like it or not, if Umno is no longer a race-based party, the likelihood is that PAS will take over the Government,” he said in reply to a question after giving a talk on “Malaysia at the Crossroads” at Cambridge University on Wednesday.
And how about this candidate who is currently one of the three scallywags “turks” vying for a place as one of the nation’s future leadership……Who had proudly proclaimed that UMNO, under his leadership, lost the Selangor state because the party was NOT racist and Islamist enough.
This same frozen-faced chap actually believed that Umno should continue actively promote their brand of UMNO Malay agenda and UMNO Islamic policies, and the party will succeed in turning the tide in the next general election.
Well, Mr. Frozen Face……how about you please do us that big favour and continue with those racist proposals and next election, the rakyat truly send you packing along with the ‘tsunami’ tide to Timbuktoo!!!
I came across this extremely racist piece of crap, entitled “Bodohkah Melayu” written by some chap who, believe me, seriously doesn’t look at all like an “Earth-Prince” but more 100% something else….say of the Indian ethnic background?
However, like all UMNO mamak breeds, this guy is adamant that he be as racist as possible, perhaps with hope that people can forget where his true origins are from………pity his ancestors and parents…….
Excerpt from “Bodohkah Melayu” at http://www.tepakbersulam.com/ aka Khazai Abu Bakar
(p.s. I’m only going to do a very simplified translation……..as most of what’s being written is more or less in the same crappy tune)
Melayu tidak lagi serupa UMNO melayu. Melayu tidak lagi sayangkan UMNO melayu, melayu menulis menghina pemimpin UMNO melayu, melayu mahukan hak UMNO melayu terhakis, melayu mahukaN melayu terus menjadi kuda, Melayu mahukan melayu jadi boneka.
(Loose Translation : Malays don’t love themselves anymore)
(Loose Translation : See how they allowed a hindu to be the speaker in the Perak state assembly. That Hindu insulted our king and our race) *vomit blood*
Gadaikan hak melayu, gadaikan maruah bangsa, tak apa kata mereka, tak apa kata pemimpin Pas, gadaikan maruah agama. Tak apa kata mereka lagi. Asalkan kita berkuasa.
(Loose Translation : Supporting the hindu is akin to negleting the malays. We must do whatever, at all costs, to ensure that we are the kings scumbags ones on top and in power.)
(Loose Translation : ARISE my people….ARISE!!!!!! For more than 50 years, malays have been enslaved protected by UMNO, not them!!! UMNO is the one who handicapped nutured us so how can we turn our backs on them!!)
Can someone please tell our incoming PM that launching some dumb “One Malaysia” campaign with fancy fancy juvenile slogans and giving speeches such as , “Let us develop not only the economic and political ties but also the social and cultural relationship with all ethnic groups in the country,” will not buy the hearts of the voters……..not when it is so obvious that under your leadership, the total opposite is being practised, endorsed and approved.

You know what?
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!
ENOUGH with all these low-life tactics to politically assassinate one’s opponent. For once, can’t these people pppplllleeeeaaaasssseeee come up with something that has more substance than some cheap nauseating thrills!!??
Nude photos: Politician lodges police report
Malaysiakini – Feb 16, 09 9:45am
A top Selangor assemblywoman, whose nude photographs are being circulated in public, has made a report urging the police to investigate the matter.
According to the assemblywoman, she lodged the report late last night at Damansara police station in Petaling Jaya at about 11pm.
It is believed that the photographs were taken without her consent, most likely by a former boyfriend, while she was sleeping.
Malaysiakini has seen a couple of the photos, one of which shows her asleep naked in bed.
The politician, who is from the ruling Pakatan Rakyat coalition in Selangor, has been severely traumatised by the release of the photos.
She told Malaysiakini that it was a gross invasion of her privacy.
“I’m a little speechless and at loss of words,” she said, adding that she would leave to the police to find the culprit who circulated the photos.
The photos have been sent to a number of newspapers, including The Sun and Malay Mail, which today ran reports on the matter.
According to one of her supporters, the release of the photos is aimed at casting aspersions on her and Pakatan ahead of two crucial by-elections in April, in Kedah and Perak.
The assemblywoman, who is in her late 30s and single, is expected to release a statement later today.
From what I gathered, these are basically photos taken of Eli Wong sleeping in nude/almost nude, without her consent mind you……….I mean, COME ON!!! Im’ very sure there’s many of us out there, men included, who has slept in their “birthday-suits” before, so WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL!!!???
These photos are neither controversial nor are they sexy!! What they are, are basically a gross violation of one’s personal boundaries!!!! Nothing more and nothing less!!
To use private photos of another person in order to embarrass him/her is not only criminal but TRULY TRULY DESPICABLE!!!
And you know what……I somehow suspect that the source of this “despicability” has the stinky trademark scent of some mastermind from a particular racist and corrupted political party that promotes and approves of such of behaviour………and for anyone to not know which party I’m referring to, must have been a hermit in some limestone caves……….
No, I have not seen the photos, nor will I ever be interested in viewing them……because by doing so would only give whoever posted those photos the publicity he/she so crave.
As far as I’m concerned, Elizabeth Wong is one great assemblywoman and the work that she has done for the people (even way before she was elected) certainly outweighs all that Toyol and his goons have done in their entire political career!!!
Btw, I do wonder if it could also be because of her and the PR state government’s unwavering stand on many issues that has made them the darlings of the voters but hugely “unpopular” with the corrupted businessmen, who used to get their way with the previous Toyol government by just donating large amounts to some mysterious “Football Club”……….the illegal billboards and dangerous hillside developments instantly springs to mind……..hhhmmmmm…..
Quite frankly, I certainly DONT’ GIVE A DAMN what she wears to sleep, do you?
And just like Teresa Kok and her ISA detention, this incident of betrayal will not only ensure that the political career of Eli Wong will definitely live on, but she will find herself deluged with public support…….
Ultimately the BIG LOSER will NOT be the victim, but the perpertrator!!!!

(This is the Bahasa Malaysia version for the previous post by Oscar – From Jelapang to Jelutong: A Tale of Defiance)
(“A Malaysian Who Dared Sue a King” Far Eastern Economic Review, 20 May, 1993).

Barisan Nasional ADUN from Sungei Rapat, Hamidah Osman was sworn in this morning as a Perak EXCO member.
Malaysian Insider had earlier reported Hamidah Osman was not too happy with Zambry’s appointment because she had great expectations to be the country’s first female Menteri Besar.
She was probably not made the MB because Hamidah Osman prefers a certain type of reptile more than some of her constituents.
Noooo…Hamidah Osman did not mean our Feather-Indian friend here…
Let’s reminisce together…

Sungai Rapat state assemblyperson Hamidah Osman, who caused a furore in the Perak legislative assembly on Friday with her racial slur, has publicly apologised for hurting the Indian community.
At a packed press conference in the Ipoh Country Club this morning, the Barisan Nasional elected representative issued the public apology before newsmen, saying that it was not her intention to hurt the Indian community with a racial slur.
“I have already retracted my statement in the House and now, I am offering my humble and sincere apology here to all Indians for uttering the racist remarks in the heat of the moment.
“I regret for saying that and promise not to repeat it anywhere anymore,” said a visibly moved Hamidah, who plans to embark on a ‘constituency road-show’ to explain and apologise over the incident to electorates in Gopeng, which encompasses Sungai Rapat.
Her apology came in the wake of several police reports lodged by Perak Indian-based public interests groups such as cultural-based organisation Ipoh Tamilar Tirunaal (ITT) organising committee, which has 30 Indian NGO affiliates.
Remarks spark furore
ITT advisor M Mathialagan, a lawyer, lodged the report condemning Hamidah’s racial slur and called upon her to openly apologise to all Indian Malaysians.
During a fiery state assembly meeting in Ipoh yesterday, Hamidah earned the wrath of Pakatan Rakyat assemblypersons when she asked whether speaker Sivakumar (an Indian) ‘agreed to disagree’ with a well-known fable of whether a snake or a man from a certain racial community should be killed first.
Her ‘un-assembly-like’ question sparked a furore, prompting Pakatan Rakyat elected representatives led by executive councillor Nga Kor Ming (DAP-Pantai Remis) to demand that she retracts her words.
However, Hamidah maintained her innocence and said she was merely asking if Sivakumar “agreed to disagree” with it.
The speaker who is also DAP Tronoh assemblyperson instead let her off the hook with a mere warning of “not to repeat such sensitive remarks.”
She later retracted her words.
Hamidah was roundly criticised by elected representatives and public interests groups from inside and outside Perak for uttering racist remarks in the House.
DAP Buntong state assemblyperson A Sivasubramaniam did not mince his words, labeling her “a racist upholding BN tradition of racial brand politics”.
“It is ungainly graceless for a people’s representative to utter such racist remarks against the speaker and his community,” he said.
Playing with fire
Sivasubramaniam also said Hamidah’s remarks was proof that BN, particularly Umno, had yet to accept its electoral defeat and conform to the reality that “a speaker of Indian origin was presiding the House”.
“She and Umno are playing with fire by hurting the racial sentiment of others,” he told Malaysiakini.
Meanwhile, Penang’s Datuk Keramat assemblyperson Jagdeep Singh Deo said the Perak assembly should have suspended Hamidah immediately and referred her to the Privileges Committee for disciplinary action.
Over the years, Jagdeep’s father, Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh has had in several instances clashed with Barisan MPs in Parliament over similar racist remarks that implicitly portrayed “the Indian community as more venomous than a snake”.
The Penang assemblyperson said Hamidah’s racial slur clearly showed BN had not learnt its lessons from the last general election.
He suggested that another round of elections would remind the coalition that “its racial brand politics no longer appeals to the majority of Malaysians”.
However, a Perak government insider said Hamidah was not referred to the Privilege Committee because she was deliberately left to “suffer public condemnation”.
“She could have become an Umno ‘heroine’ and evaded public humiliation since she would gain ‘immunity’ if referred to the committee.
“The game plan worked to force Hamidah to come out and openly apologise to Indians in Perak and the country as well,” the insider said.
Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise: the newly (I still cannot believe MY SULTAN DID THIS) installed Perak state government does not have a single Indian rep.
So with this new (I still cannot believe MY SULTAN DID THIS) state government in place, Hamidah Osman can no longer threaten to beat up anyone from the ruling (I still cannot believe MY SULTAN DID THIS) coalition.
